Chestnut staircase and office

This Chestnut staircase is based the windy depths of Cornwall, showing how harmony of the environment is created using natural products. Staircase Solutions worked with the client to create a truly unique staircase that organically blended with her environment superbly.

All treads made in French sweet chestnut, all rises and walls painted with natural lime putty. The banister is made from the same French sweet chestnut, which then transforms into a work station.

A beautifully oiled Walnut and Oak staircase in an entrance hall, with classic handrails that have been hand carved using traditional carving tools.

Inspired by the tulip flower; this oak and walnut staircase used 7 year old seasoned oak for the banister and incredible 12 year old seasoned French walnut for the treads

Oak Scroll Handrail

Detail of left and right end scrolls to the banisters made from 7 year old seasoned oak carved and shaped by hand. Finished with 4 layers of natural oils applied over several days to ensure good hardening and drying creating a natural depth as it penetrates the wood easily giving a satin sheen.

Olive Ash Wave Steps

This handmade unique staircase was affectionately called the "wave steps." it was made from 1/4 sawn olive ash. The brief was to connect two levels of the building but also create an interactive focus point in the centre of the building. These Olive Ash stairs shows simplicity can be key is defining a space. The solution to this space was to create an graceful wave to connect two walls that conventionally didn’t want to connect.

Oak and Glass panelled Staircase

This 14 tread Oak staircase shows how simplicity can be the solution. Without the risers, this staircase allows natural light to filter through the house and reflects the warmth of the oak into the hallway. The white painted handrail with glass panels keeps in consideration the need for light in a small area but allows for the feeling of safety. As for all our staircases, the oak has been finished using eco friendly oil, permitting the timber to breath while it settles into its new environment.

Alpujarra Design & Build

Undertaken in the Alpujarra region of Southern Spain, this comprehensive design and restoration endeavor encompassed an entire property. The project featured the application of authentic materials such as natural lime, "tadelakt" (Venetian plaster), and yesso finishes on walls and staircases. This not only revitalised the aesthetics but also offered local artisans the opportunity to revive time-honored techniques and crafts indigenous to the area. The woodwork within the project was meticulously handcrafted from European Chestnut, adding a touch of artistry to every detail.

Boatshed

For this timber framed building project, our goal was to maintain the existing structure's footprint while enhancing the space to be more inviting and cozy. A central aspect was the implementation of a distinctive staircase solution within the shed, seamlessly connecting to a mezzanine level, ensuring both functionality and aesthetics.

Restoration Project Spain

This restoration project in the Albycin, Granada, Spain was a 16th Century listed building so most of the work had to be in keeping with the original style. Individually designed staircases were created with major work of balconies, pillars, balustrades and eaves details being hand carved using European Chestnut. This project was constructed in kit form in the workshop and then transported and assembled on site.

Long view of table in the style of a Spanish refectory spanning over 4 meters long made in European Walnut from a private estate in the Loire valley. The tablelegs and bars are made in crystal clear hand polished arcylic. It is accompanied by 12 Màntide dining chairs and 2 Pegasus dining carver chairs made from the same trunk of European Walnut as the table.
